Pandrol is a world leader in railway infrastructure. The company, part of the Delachaux Group, supplies rail fastening systems and aluminothermic welding material to more than 400 railway networks in 100+ countries. Their products are under high-speed lines and heavy goods trains, among others.
Pandrol produces thermite for rail welding. One of the raw materials is iron oxide, which has to be sieved before entering the blast furnace. Supply and discharge had to be monitored and controlled to ensure stable production.
SMO/FleXiever supplied a complete customised screening installation consisting of:
3.5 m³ bunker (15-tonne capacity)
8-metre supply belt
FleXiever Mini Screener
11-metre discharge conveyor
Sensors monitor the bunker and conveyor belts to control direct feed to the blast furnace. The sieved iron oxide is used to produce thermite, which is used to weld railway rails.
