Coca-Cola Company is one of the world's largest beverage producers. In Belgium, Coca-Cola supplies large-scale events and festivals, where speed and safety must go hand in hand.
At major music festivals, closed bottles cannot be sold - the caps have to be unscrewed beforehand. Doing this manually for thousands of bottles a day is time-consuming and labour-intensive. Coca-Cola was looking for a machine that could do this quickly and automatically.
SMO built the Speedcap, based on a concept by Coca-Cola itself. The machine handles trays of 24 bottles. After placement, the pack is cut in half and all caps are automatically unscrewed three-quarters of the way.
The Speedcap reaches 3,000 bottles per hour and is deployed at major Belgian festivals: Rock Werchter, Dour, Pukkelpop.
